# Uncover your PDF's Database Field names

## Anatomy of a PDF form

ScribeWare can be used to fill in the following form element types:

* **Text fields** - places were you can enter arbitrary text. Examples include "Name", "Address", "Date", etc.
* **Check boxes -** they can either appear as a check mark or "x", and are either checked or unchecked

Each element in a form has an internal *Database field name* that is used to reference it.

**Important! Database Field Names are not visible using a normal PDF viewer. You must use a specialized tool to see these.**
{% endhint %}

### How to determine PDF field names

1. Upload your PDF to the free website [pdfFiller.com](https://www.pdffiller.com)
